Our med­ical & nurs­ing team is a ded­i­cat­ed group of high­ly-trained pro­fes­sion­als with a range of med­ical spe­cial­i­sa­tions. With up-to-date med­ical knowl­edge and tech­niques and an unwa­ver­ing com­mit­ment to the high­est stan­dards of care, Bath St Fam­i­ly Med­ical Cen­tre is com­mit­ted to find­ing the right solu­tions and treat­ments for every patient. 

Dr. Adil P. Vaghaiwala

Dr. Adil Vaghaiwala is the practice principal and has been a full time GP in Alice Springs since 1997. His interests include most aspects of general medicine including musculo-skeletal disorders, preventative medicine, travel medicine, men’s health, skin lesions & minor surgical procedures.

Born in Bombay, India, Adil trained & completed his degree in Master of Surgery (Orthopaedics). He worked at the Alice Springs Hospital from1995 gaining experience in different specialities. He then completed his Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.

Outside of the practice, Dr. Vaghaiwala enjoys sport, travel & gardening.

Dr. Augustine (Gus) Matarazzo
MBBS, Dip (Obst) RACOG

Dr. Gus Matarazzo is a long term resident of Alice Springs and is one of the founding members of the practice. He works part-time and is concentrating on preventative health and health assessments of his current patients. He has a special interest in obstetrics & gynaecology, family planning & skin cancers.

When not working at the practice, Dr. Matarazzo enjoys tennis, soccer and table tennis, travel & music.

Dr. Fenny Leong

Dr. Fenny Leong has been a long term resident of Alice Springs. She graduated from Melbourne University & then completed her post-graduate qualification with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. Her interests include most aspects of general medicine, chronic disease management, mental health, women's health and paediatrics.

In her free time Dr. Leong enjoys the performing arts & music.

Dr. Padmavathy Kaki

Dr. Padma Kaki has lived in Alice Springs for many years and has been in General Practice after obtaining her post-graduate qualification with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. Dr. Kaki has a vast experience in obstetrics and gynaecological services. She has obtained a skin cancer diploma and performs minor surgical procedures.

Dr. Kaki enjoys meeting and talking to people. In her free time she loves cooking and gardening.

Dr. Sarwat Sabir

Dr. Sarwat Sabir has been in Australia since 2007, having worked the first year at the Mackay Base Hospital, Qld and then in Alice Springs. She had worked in Saudi Arabia for 3 years before coming to Australia. Dr. Sabir obtained her post-graduate qualification with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. Besides general medicine, she has a particular interest in women’s health, family planning, paediatrics and mental health.

When not working Dr. Sabir enjoys music and an active lifestyle with visits to the gym and netball.

Dr. Ollapallil Jacob
MBBS, MS (General Surgery), MCh, FRACS

Ollapallil Jacob is a General Surgeon at Alice Springs Hospital and for the last 18 years a senior Lecturer of Flinders University. After completing his surgical training in multiple disciplines in India, he worked in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea as a general surgeon and senior lecturer of the University of Papua New Guinea for 14 years. His current clinical and research areas of interest are trauma, acute pancreatitis and delivery of surgical services to indigenous people across barriers of distance and culture. Dr Jacob is the first recipient of the Indigenous health medal from the College of Surgeons, for his continuous and sustained services to the indigenous people of Central Australia.

Dr Jacob also works at Bath Street Family Medical Centre providing services in the field of skin cancer surgery, procedures like vasectomies, skin tumours, cysts and scars.

Dr. Geoff Thompson
MB BS FACSP, Sport and Exercise Medicine Physician

Dr. Geoff Thompson is a very experienced Sports and Exercise Physician. Geoff’s professional interests are very broad, having treated all sports for many years both in coverage, treatment and prevention. Prevention programs are one of his specialities in active people or those wishing to be active.

Dr Thompson consults every 6 weeks in Alice Springs at Bath Street Family Medical Centre, contact Sandy Thompson on 8985 2759 for appointments.

Mrs Jo Robertson
Practice Nurse (RN)

Jo has lived in Alice Springs for over 35 years. She has been a Registered Nurse for over 10 years and prior to studying nursing and raising children worked in accounts and finance. She is passionate about helping and encouraging others to improve their health and lives.

Away from the practice, Jo enjoys the outdoors, family, travel, singing, gardening, healthy food and fitness.
